Salem State Takes Doubleheader Against Fitchburg StateApril 29, 2017
Salem, Mass. ? Salem State held off Fitchburg State 7-5 in game one on Saturday afternoon at the Central Campus Baseball Field. Joe Kasper (Lynn, Mass.) led the Vikings with a 3-for-3 day with two doubles and three RBI's. Madoc Fisher's (Wayne, N.J.) one-out single drove in Alex Toomey (Beverly, Mass.) and Fisher came all the way around to score on a throwing error as the Vikings took game two, 6-5 in extra innings. Salem State goes to 21-17 and 10-4 in the MASCAC while the Falcons slip to 14-19-1, and 7-7 in conference.

Salem, Mass.? Salem State swept Fitchburg State on "Senior Day" at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings finish the regular season 21-15 and 9-5 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). The Falcons slip to 11-18 and 6-8 in conference.

Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, N.Y.) scored with 10:39 remaining in the second half and Salem Salem State's defense did the rest as the Vikings held offa comeback attempt by Worcester State 11-10 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Salem State slides into fifth place in the MASCAC with 3-4 league record (5-11 overall). The Lancers slip to sixth place at 2-5 and complete the regular season at 5-12 overall.

Jordan Torres (New Bedford, Mass.) scored three straight third period goals and Donovan Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) added back-to-back goals late in the fourth to give UMass Dartmouth an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over Salem State on Friday evening in the final regular season match-up for both teams. The Corsairs improve to 5-10 and 2-5 in the Little East while the Vikings end their campaign 2-12 and 0-7 in conference.

The Framingham State University baseball team dropped both ends of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) baseball doubleheader this afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex falling 6-1 in the opener with Salem State before the Vikings came from behind for an 8-6 victory in the night cap.

Salem State bounced back from a 3-0 loss in game one to defeat Framingham State 4-1 in game two to earn a split with the Rams in a MASCAC doubleheader this afternoon at Maple Street Field. The Vikings are now 19-15 on the season and 7-5 in the conference. With the split, the Rams improve to 25-9 on the year and 11-1 in the MASCAC.

In 1974, the Little League Baseball Federation Charter was amended to allow girls to participate in the sport. Since then 18 girls, including Mo'ne Davis and Emma March in 2015, competed in the coveted Little League World Series. For Salem State softball head coach Leanne Doviak, if that charter hadn't been changed, her future may have been a little different.
