MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME ACADEMY FIELD PROJECT COMPLETED
This past June saw the completion of a project that began last
November, giving the Massachusetts Maritime Academy a much-needed
update to outdoor playing and practice facilities.
The 155, 000 square-foot facility includes a game field lined for soccer, football and lacrosse and an adjacent practice field that is just shy of a full-size football field.
Both fields are artificial, in-fill installations of A-Turf and both are lighted by Musco lighting installations. The fields were designed by Camp-Dresser McKee of Boston and construction was handled by Argus Construction of Bedford, MA.
A new Daktronics scoreboard complete with message center adds another new dimension to MMA's outdoor sports facility
Phase two of the project, additional seating and new press box facilities, will hopefully be completed in the next year.
MMA will dedicate the new complex on August 31, 2007 when the Buccaneers take on New York Maritime at 7:00 Pm in a first-ever meeting between the two schools. The first of what hopefully will develop in to a Maritime rivalry is aptly named ‘The Chowder Bowl'.
