NIGHT A SUCCESS

The First Annual "Think Pink Night" sponsored by the athletic
department during the college's men's and women's basketball games
played against Westfield State College on February 12 at James
Twohig Gymnasium was a highly successful event that raised
awareness and collected funds for the continued research of breast
cancer.
"It was a great event that was well received by the many people who attended the games," said Salem State athletic director Tim Shea. "We are proud to make a contribution to the NSMC Cancer Center in its fight to cure this horrible disease."
"Think Pink Night" was marketed by Salem State student athletes. All fans were encouraged to show their support by wearing pink to the games. The women's and men's basketball teams wore pink shirts during their pre-game warm-ups.
"The attendance was fantastic for both games," said Nicolle Wood, the athletic department's CHAMPS co-ordinator. "The evening's events raised close to $1,000 that will be donated to the NSMC Cancer Center. The students working the event and all of the people who came out to support the cause is what made it a big hit."
