Westfield State Eliminated From NCAA Division III Championship
Westfield State was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship New York Regional with Thursday's 2-1 loss to Skidmore College at Auburn, New York.

NCAA DIVISION III BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP REGIONAL
AUBURN, NY, May 17, 2007 - Skidmore College edged Westfield State, 2-1, in the NCAA Division III New York Regional on Thursday morning.
Westfield suffered its second straight setback in the seven-team
double elimination tournament to finish its season with a 20-17
record. Skidmore, the No. 6 seed, improves to 21-19.
Westfield outhit Skidmore, 8-6, but the Owls stranded nine
baserunners.
The Owls were unable to come up with the big hit except for the
first inning when Jay Brown delivered an RBI
single.
Skidmore scored both of its runs in the third inning with two outs
and the bases empty. Two walks, a wild pitch, a passed ball and a
stolen base placed runners at second and third. Greg
Carlow then rapped a two-run single thru the left side of
the infield.
Steve Sullivan pitched well in relief for Westfield. Sullivan threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs and two hits and striking out three. Steve Burndrett was the losing pitcher.
Adam Franke was 2 for 3 with a double. Brown was 2 for 3.
