Bridgewater State, Worcester State Men, Worcester State Women Picked to Win 2018 MASCAC Indoor Track and Field Titles
The Bridgewater State, Worcester State men’s, Worcester State women’s indoor track and field squads have been picked to win their respective 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field titles as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

The Bridgewater State, Worcester State men's, Worcester State women's indoor track and field squads have been picked to win their respective 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field titles as voted on by the coaches from around the league.
Sitting in a tie for the first place spot are Bridgewater State and Worcester State who both received two first place votes. The Bears finished fourth at the 2017 MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships with two individual titles and a relay. Lamont Haynes was a dual winner in the 400 meter dash and as part of the 4x200 meter relay. The Lancers took home their first Indoor Track and Field Championship last season along with six individual league crowns and a relay. Marc George claimed MASCAC honors in the 600 meter run and as a member of the 4x400 meter relay.
Tying for third are Fitchburg State and Westfield State. The Falcons came in third at last year's indoor championship. As a team, they had six individual titles on the day. Brian Amaral set a new MASCAC/Alliance record in the 5,000 meters and grabbed another title in the 3,000. The Owls, the 2017 runner-up, took home two individual titles and a relay crown last season. Connor Gottzmann was first in the 1,000 meter run while also finishing first as a member of the 4x800 meter relay.
On the women's side, Worcester State looks for their first indoor title since the 2010-11 season. The Lancers were picked to finish first with two of the first place votes. At the 2017 Indoor Championship, they finished third with 62 team points. Elizabeth McCormack finished second in the MASCAC in the weight throw.
The 2017 MASCAC Indoor Runner-Up Bridgewater State is next in second with the final first place vote. Last season, the Bears grabbed second place with 10 individual titles and two relay crowns. Jayci Andrews was a three-time winner in long jump, 55 meters and the 200 meters.
Earning the final first place vote in third is Westfield State. The Owls are the reigning MASCAC Indoor Track and Field Champions. At last year's meet, they grabbed six individual titles and a relay. Jessie Cardin shattered the 5,000 meter MASCAC and New England Alliance record and took home the MASCAC title in the 3,000 and mile.
Closing out the poll is Fitchburg State in fourth. The Falcons were fourth at last year's meet. Annie Woolley was second in the 200 meter dash and third in the 55 meter hurdles.
Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State and Worcester State begin their season this weekend at the UMass Boston Invitational while Westfield State competes at the Springfield College Invitational.
