The Salem State College athletic department hosted a successful "Pink Zone Night " fundraiser, which promoted breast cancer awareness, on February 10, 2009 in conjunction with the men's and women's basketball games played against Framingham State College at James Twohig Gymnasium.
Many members of the Salem State College community contributed to the evening with the proceeds from the sale of pink tee-shirts during the night's festivities being donated to the North Shore Medical Center's Cancer Center in Salem. Everyone who wore the color pick to the games was entered into a raffle for restaurant gift certificates and other special prizes.
"It was a great way for the college to recognize and donate to such an important cause," said Tim Shea, Salem State College Athletic Director and Women's Basketball Coach. "It was nice to see so many people being involved and donating to such a special event."
