MASCAC Football Weekly Report 10/20

 

Offensive Player of the Week
Stefano D'Emilia, Bridgewater State
Senior, Quarterback, Bridgewater, Mass.

D'Emilia accounted for eight touchdowns (seven in the first half alone) and threw for a school record 345 yards in the Bears’ 56-20 Homecoming victory over UMass Dartmouth. Completed 15 of 27 pass attempts for a school record-tying five touchdowns and rushed for 53 yards and three touchdowns as he amassed 398 yards of total offense. Also caught a two-point conversion pass as he had a hand in 50 of the team’s 56 points.

Defensive Player of the Week
Steven Silvia, Bridgewater State
Sophomore, Linebacker, Dighton, Mass.

Silvia led a solid defensive effort for the Bears in a 56-20 Homecoming win over UMass Dartmouth as he notched a team-best 12 tackles (ten solo) with two for a loss and a forced fumble that resulted in a score. The Bears’ defense forced six turnovers in the game and held the high-powered Corsair offense to just 20 points.

Special Teams Player of the Week
George Lampros, Mass. Maritime
Junior, Punter/Kicker, Bridgewater, Mass.

Lampros made a 23-yard field goal as well as 4-of-5 extra points in the Buccaneers’ 37-0 victory over Fitchburg State. He also punted the ball three times for 167 yards for an average of 55.1 yards with a long punt of 60 yards.

Rookie of the Week
Ben McMahon, Bridgewater State
Freshman, Linebacker, Somerset, Mass.

McMahon recorded his first two collegiate interceptions and added four solo tackles to go along with a pass breakup in the Bears’ 56-20 Homecoming win over UMass Dartmouth. Both of his interceptions, one of which was a 33-yard return, led to touchdowns. The Bears’ defense forced six turnovers in the game and held the high-powered Corsair offense to just 20 points.
