Six MASCAC Student-Athletes Earn ECAC Weekly Honors
Six student-athletes for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference have been recognized as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) weekly award winners for their respective sports.

Six student-athletes for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference have been recognized as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) weekly award winners for their respective sports.
Framingham State's Matt Silva and Fitchburg State's Talib Barksdale were recognized for football, Worcester State's Brady Phillips for men's cross country, Massachusetts Maritime's Nick Parker for men's soccer, Westfield State's Sarah Sypek for women's soccer and Worcester State's Alyssa Jasper for volleyball.
Silva passed for four touchdowns on 228 yards and rushed 25 yards for another touchdown in the Rams' 48-31 comeback win over Western Connecticut. Led the offense to score the final 20 points of the game to come back from a 31-28 deficit late in the 3rd quarter. His performance earned him ECAC Northeast Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Barksdale was named ECAC Northeast Co-Defensive Player of the Week after totaling a team-best 10 tackles (eight solo) with one tackle for a loss, an interception and a pass breakup in the 21-17 comeback victory over Bridgewater State.
Earning ECAC Men's Cross Country Co-Rookie of the Week honors, Phillips finished as the top collegiate runner with a time of 28:09 over the 8k course at the Worcester City Cross Country Meet to help lead the Lancers to a fourth place team finish.
Parker helped the Buccaneers to their first 2-0 MASCAC start in 15 years with four goals in a pair of victories on the week to earn ECAC New England Player of the Week accolades. He tallied his first career hat trick in a 4-0 triumph over Anna Maria College to go with a marker in the 3-1 win over Fitchburg State.
In women's soccer, Sypek tallied a hat trick and added two assists in the Owls’ 8-1 win over Bridgewater State and netted the game winner in the 103rd minute in the 1-0 win over Smith College to nab ECAC Co-Player of the Week honors.
Named ECAC Co-Player of the Week, Jasper averaged 14.3 kills, eight digs and an ace with a .383 hitting percentage in a 3-0 week for the Lancers, including 17 kills and 17 digs in a 3-0 win over MCLA, 12 kills and two aces in a 3-0 victory over Bay Path College and 14 kills, including her 1,000th career kill in a 3-0 win over Becker College.
