Framingham State and Massachusetts Maritime Earn Spot in ECAC Division III New England Baseball Tournament
After finishing their season over the weekend, Framingham State and Massachusetts Maritime have been selected to participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Tournament which begins Wednesday, May 6 with the quarterfinal round.

After finishing their season over the weekend, Framingham State and Massachusetts Maritime have been selected to participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Baseball Tournament which begins Wednesday, May 6 with the quarterfinal round.
Framingham State has earned the #1 seed after ending the year with 26 wins. They will play the winner of Western New England/WPI on Saturday, May 9. The Rams were led on the mound by the 2015 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and first team all-conference selection in Zack Kirby (Rochester, Mass.). Kirby led the conference with a school record 99 strikeouts on the year as he became the FSU career strikeout leader. Kirby went 6-2 on the year with an ERA of 1.42 and recorded three shutouts and six complete games in 10 starts.
Offensively, the Rams were led first team All-MASCAC selection senior Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and second team selection Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.). Mainini led the Rams at the plate hitting .378 with 13 doubles, three homeruns and 25 RBI, while Derosier batted .348 with 11 doubles, a team-leading 11 homeruns and 38 RBI.
For Massachusetts Maritime, they were picked as the #3 seed and will face Salve Regina on Saturday, May 9 in the semifinals. Led by head coach Bob Corradi, who is in his 43rd and final year at the helm for the Buccaneers, the squad finished 17-12 and claimed a share of the MASCAC regular season title.
Freshman Logan Sullo (Acushnet, Mass./Bishop Stang), who was named last week as the 2015 MASCAC Player & Rookie of the Year, paces Massachusetts Maritime at the plate with a .471 batting average that includes eight doubles, six triples, two homers and 18 RBI. Sullo has recorded a whopping .843 slugging percentage to go with a .563 on-base percentage, as he earned league Player of the Week honors twice during the regular season while amassing four Rookie of the Week accolades.
Junior lefthander Kevin Kwedor (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) ranked among the conference leaders in wins during the regular season, as the second-team all-MASCAC performer is 6-3 overall with a 3.69 earned run average in 10 appearances (nine starts) and has recorded 49 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings pitched to date. Fellow junior Kyle Kennedy (Woodbury, Conn./Nonnewaug) earned all-conference accolades for a second straight campaign, as he has posted a 3-1 mark with a 1.80 ERA and four saves while holding opponents to a .219 batting average in 14 appearances.
Last year, Suffolk University defeated Roger Williams University to capture last year's ECAC New England Championship.
