CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMass-Dartmouth rookie cornerback DaVon Fuller has garnered the Ray Gallant Insurance New England Football Writers’ Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Awards for the week of Oct. 21.

Fuller anchored the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth defense in a, 34-33, victory over Worcester State last weekend. The rookie finished the day with four interceptions, three of which came inside the red zone, and one score.

The Washington, D.C., native gave UMass-Dartmouth its first lead of the game in the third quarter when the cornerback picked off a pass inside the Corsairs’ five-yard line and returned it 94 yards to earn his first collegiate touchdown. Fuller, who was named MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, also registered four tackles in the win.

Currently ranked in several categories in NCAA Division III, Fuller is first in single game interceptions with four, tied for second in interceptions per game and fourth in DIII with his 94 yard interception return.

Fuller and the Corsairs head to Buzzards Bay this weekend for a match-up with Massachusetts Maritime. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
