The Framingham State University football team saw their season come to a close this afternoon with a 45-0 loss to Muhlenberg College in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Football Tournament.

Allentown, PA – The Framingham State University football team saw their season come to a close this afternoon with a 45-0 loss to Muhlenberg College in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Football Tournament.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Muhlenberg 45, Framingham State 0 

- Records:  Framingham State (8-3), Muhlenberg (10-1) 

- Location:  Allentown, PA – Scotty Wood Stadium  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State was making its third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament after capturing the 2021 MASCAC Title. 

  • The Rams had 241 yards of total offense in the game including 116 yards rushing. The Mules amassed 420 yards of total offense in the game but were held to just 68 yards rushing by the Rams defense that had been allowing just over 62 yards per game on the ground during the regular season. 

  • Nicolas Goffredo completed 11-of-24 for the Rams for 122 yards, while Noah Leonard completed just 1-of-6. 

  • Devaun Ford rushed for 57 yards on 13 carries, while also making three catches for 19 yards. 

  • The Mules were led by Michael Hnatkowsky who completed 27-of-36 for 352 yards with four touchdowns.  Mitch Daniel made seven catches for 132 yards and two scores. 

  • The Rams were led by nine tackles, including eight solo stops from Michael Brooks who also forced a fumble and had a pass break up. 

  • Cully Curran tallied eight tackles, while Moise Nazaire and Dylan DeWolfe added seven apiece. 

  • Joshua Onujiogu, who is the Rams all-time sack leader, added six tackles including a sack and two for a loss. 

  • The Mules defense forced three turnovers in the game with three picks and a fumble recovery. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Mules got on the board on the opening possession of the game when Daniel caught a 20-yard touchdown pass. After the extra point, the Mules led 7-0 with 13:03 on the clock. 

  • The lead was extended in the closing stages of the first quarter on a 12-yard touchdown reception by Michael Feaster, who caught two TDs in the game. 

  • The Mules added a pair of scores in the second quarter – a touchdown and a 29-yard field goal – pushing the lead to 24-0 at the half. 

  • A single score in the third and two in the fourth accounted for the final margin. 

  • Muhlenberg advances in the tournament and will face Delaware Valley next weekend.
