Bridgewater State, Plymouth State to Represent MASCAC in DIII New England Bowl Series
The New England Football Committee is thrilled to announce the participants for the 2022 New England Bowl. Bridgewater State University, Catholic University, Husson University and Plymouth State University have been selected to compete in the Bowl Game slated for Saturday November 19th. Bridgewater State University will host Catholic University, while Husson University will host Plymouth State University.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – The New England Football Committee is thrilled to announce the participants for the 2022 New England Bowl. Bridgewater State University, Catholic University, Husson University and Plymouth State University have been selected to compete in the Bowl Game slated for Saturday November 19th. Bridgewater State University will host Catholic University, while Husson University will host Plymouth State University.
Three of the teams, Catholic University, Husson University and Plymouth State University will be appearing in the New England Bowl series for the first time while Bridgewater State University (2018) will be making the program’s second appearance.
Representing the NEWMAC, Catholic University will look to square off with MASCAC representative, Bridgewater State which will be the first meeting between the two programs in history. Catholic finished the regular season at 6-4 with a 5-1 record in conference play while Bridgewater State also finished the regular season at 6-4 with a 6-2 record in MASCAC competition.
The Cardinals are led by head coach Mike Gutelius who will look to claim the program first New England Bowl title in their series debut while the Bears look to add their second New England Bowl crown under the leadership of head coach Joe Verria.
The bowl game will take place at Bridgewater State on Saturday, November 19th with a kickoff of 12 pm.
In the second bowl game, Husson representing the CCC will host the MASCAC’s Plymouth State. Earlier this season, the two teams faced off with the Panthers coming out victorious, 17-0. Husson ended the year 5-5, 4-2 in the CCC while Plymouth State was 8-2, 6-2 in MASCAC play.
The Eagles are led by head coach Nat Clark with the team making their first appearance in the New England Football Bowl while head coach Paul Castonia leads the Panthers also making their first trip to a New England bowl game.
