Regular Season Champion Westfield State Claims Top Seed in 2025 MASCAC Field Hockey Tournament
For the first time since the MASCAC took field hockey under its umbrella, Westfield State has claimed the regular season title and is the top seed in this week's MASCAC Field Hockey Tournament.

The tournament begins on Tuesday, Nov. 4 with the quarterfinal round where #3 Fitchburg State hosts #6 Framingham State at 6 pm then #4 Worcester State hosts #5 Salem State at 7. The lowest remaining seed will head to Westfield on Thursday, Nov. 6 for a 7 pm start while the other remaining seed will take on #2 Bridgewater State also at 7.
The two semifinal winners will then meet on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the highest remaining seed for the tournament crown and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Owls claimed the top seed with a perfect 12-0 record in MASCAC competition for the regular season title. Leading the team in scoring is Kaleigh Murphy who netted 17 goals and six assists for 40 points, including seven game-winning goals. Her goals, points, shots and game-winners are in the top three of the league following the end of the regular season.
Landing the other first round bye is Bridgewater State. The Bears were 10-2 at the end of league play and Samantha Souza was a big reason for their success. Souza led the MASCAC in four categories, including goals (33), points (73) shots (109) and penalty strokes (3-4). She also was second with six game-winners and seventh in assists (7) on the year. Her goals and points per game totals are currently third in Division III.
Fitchburg State is the third seed and earns first round hosting duties. The Falcons were 7-5 during the conference slate. In goal, Isabella Corcoran was solid for the team, registering a conference-leading 1.21 goals against average, .848 save percentage and six shutouts. She also made 117 saves with 11 wins this season.
Grabbing the final hosting responsibility is Worcester State with the fourth seed. The Lancers were also 7-5 in MASCAC action. Kaylie Ciccone found the back of the net 13 times while assisting on seven others for 33 points and a .255 shooting percentage. One of her tallies was the game-winning score for the Lancers.
Rounding out this year's tournament field are Salem State and Framingham State with the fifth and sixth seed, respectively. Between the pipes for the Vikings, Izzy Mosley stopped 183 shots with a .735 save percentage and five wins with a shutout this year. Her saves per game is currently fifth in DIII. For the Rams, Finley Hogan tallied 24 points on 10 goals and four assists for 24 points with a game-winner to help the team earn a spot in the tournament field.
During last year's MASCAC title game, #2 Westfield State defeated #5 Bridgewater State, 2-1 to grab a spot in the NCAA Tournament and their first conference tournament crown.
