Bridgewater State Wins Seventh Straight MASCAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship
For the seventh season in a row, the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team has won the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference championship.

The Bears captured 11 MASCAC individual and two relay titles to win the MASCAC title. Leading the way with two apiece were Kevin McBirney, Corey Stalters and Alex Huynh. McBirney crossed the line first in the 800 (1:54.98) and 1,500 meters (4:02.60). Stalters claimed individual titles in the shot put (15.12m) and javelin (65.89m). In his first MASCAC Outdoor Championship, Huynh had the best high jump leap (2.00m) and long jump (6.96m).
Matt Mooney grabbed the 200 meter dash title with a time of 22.74 seconds. Kyle Ackroyd braved the heat to win the 10,000m run with a time of 33:09. Chigozie Adigwe grabbed the first place spot in the 110m hurdles while Nate Branco was first in the 400m hurdles in 58.10. Ryker King rounded out the individual winners in the pole vault with a top clearing of 3.40m.
Mooney, Dasean Peters-Wolfe, Mason Matias and Joshua Cardichon finished first in the 4x100m relay with a record breaking time of 41.66 while McBirney, King, Charles Dakai and Stephen Spofford crossed the line first in the 4x400m relay in 3:22.41.
For runner-up Westfield State, the Owls had four individual titles and the final relay. Nathan Sylven was a two-time winner, first in the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:48.75 and the 5,000 in 15:51. Theo Yetman crossed first in the 400m dash with a time of 49.20. Ali Warsame claimed the triple jump crown with a top leap of 13.84m.
The Owls 4x800m relay squad of Rowan Gottshall, Colin Mahoney, Gordon Johnson and John Nekitopoulos earned the first relay title with a time of 8:25.42.
Liam Bourassa of Fitchburg State was a dual winner for the Falcons, coming in first in the hammer throw (51.54m) and discus (43.72m).
For Worcester State, Brodie Jacques had an individual title, crossing the line first in the 100m dash with a time of 10.99.
The MASCAC teams hit the track again next week for the DIII New England Championships.
