Framingham State Selected to Win 2019-20 MASCAC Women’s Basketball Championship
Framingham State has been selected by the seven coaches from around the conference to win the 2019-20 MASCAC Women’s Basketball Championship.

Westfield, Mass.— Framingham State has been selected by the seven coaches from around the conference to win the 2019-20 MASCAC Women’s Basketball Championship.
The Rams took home four of the seven first place votes for 34 points. They were 7-5 during conference play last season. Mary Kate O’Day returns for her senior season after averaging 17.8 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, 2.67 assists and shooting 82 percent from the free throw line on her way to earning All-Conference honors.
Reigning MASCAC Tournament Champion Westfield State is second with 33 points and the final three first place votes. The Owls closed out the regular season at 10-2 for a share of the MASCAC regular season crown. All-Conference honoree Melissa Gray is back after averaging 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.81 steals along with 31 assists and 13 blocks last season.
Sitting in third is Worcester State with 24 points. The Lancers grabbed the other share of the MASCAC regular season title after finishing 10-2 last season. Catherin Sweeney averaged 7.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists while also making 30 steals and 24 blocks on her way to All-Conference accolades.
Up next in fourth is Bridgewater State with 23 points. The Bears had a 8-4 record in league action. Returning to the hardwood is Destiny Fitzgerald who averaged 8.3 points, 5.6 rebounds with 36 blocks, 28 assists and 11 steals during the 2018-19 season.
Coming in fifth with 14 points is Fitchburg State. The Falcons finished with two wins and returning for them is Angelina Marazzi who earned a spot on the All-Conference team after averaging 18.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 77 percent from the free throw line.
Closing out the preseason poll are Salem State and MCLA in sixth and seventh, respectively. The Vikings tallied four wins during the league season last year while Courtney Pascal netted 146 points, 108 rebounds, 29 assists and 22 steals for Salem State. The Trailblazers return Kylah Langston who tallied 158 points, 90 rebounds, 44 assists and 30 steals on the year.
