MASCAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week 2/1
As we did with the fall sports, the conference still wants to recognize the great success of our winter student-athletes. Each week, the MASCAC will honor a champion from the 2019-20 championship season as MASCAC Players of the Week brought to you by GEICO.
As we did with the fall sports, the conference still wants to recognize the great success of our winter student-athletes. Each week, the MASCAC will honor a champion from the 2019-20 championship season as MASCAC Players of the Week brought to you by GEICO.
This week's honorees come from women's basketball. Last year, Framingham State won their first outright MASCAC regular season title with a perfect 12-0 mark in league action and claimed their first ever MASCAC Tournament crown for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Rams, earning the top seed in the conference tournament, went on to defeat Bridgewater State in the semifinal round and then win their first MASCAC tournament crown with a 66-51 victory over Worcester State. Tournament MVP Mary Kate O'Day paced the Rams in the game with her 27 points on 8-of-16 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the line. O'Day added eight rebounds, two assists and a block. With the MASCAC automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament, the Rams went on to face Amherst in the opening round.
