MCLA and Worcester State Women's Soccer Receive NSCAA Team Academic Accolades
The MCLA and Worcester State women's soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their academic success during the 2013-14 season.
NSCAA Academic Team Award Honorees
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The MCLA and Worcester State women's soccer teams have been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their academic success during the 2013-14 season.
A total of 878 soccer teams (286 men, 593 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 academic year.
As a team, MCLA accumluated a grade point average of 3.02 under head coach Deb Raber. On the field, the Trailblazers finished the season during the MASCAC tournament with a quarterfinal setback to Framingham State.
Worcester State as a team collected a 3.08 grade point average under head coach Kevin Cumberbatch. The Lancers earned the MASCAC regular season championship after going 7-0 in conference play then won the MASCAC Tournament in a thrilling 1-0 victory over Westfield State.
For a team to be considered for the NSCAA Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA roster forms for the fall season. All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team GPA.
