WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State University women's soccer will square off with national number 1 The College of New Jersey in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Trenton, N.J. on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Westfield earned its way into the NCAA Tournament field by winning the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament, and the automatic bid that goes with the tourney title.
TCNJ is 16-0-2 this season and won the NJAC tournament title. The Lions were ranked #1 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll.
#11 Messiah (Pa.) (16-2-1) and Virginia Wesleyan (12-5-2) are the other two teams in the Owls' pod. The winners of those two games would meet on Sunday, November 14, in Trenton, N.J., with the winner advancing to the Sweet Sixteen the following weekend.
The Owls will be making their eighth NCAA tournament appearance, all under current head coach Todd Ditmar. The Owls last qualified for the NCAA Field in 2018, when they fell to William Smith University in Geneva, N.Y.
