Westfield State Claims Sixth Straight MASCAC Women's Cross Country Championship

The Owls claimed the team title with 24 points while second place finisher Bridgewater State came in at 67 points. Worcester State was in third at 81 points and Framingham State next in fourth. Fitchburg State is next in fifth with 141 points while Mass. Maritime and MCLA round out the team finishers in sixth and seventh with 143 and 220 points, respectively.
Westfield State had seven finishers in the top 10 to help them to the team crown. Crossing first for the Owls was Reese Stevens, who was second with a 5k time of 18:33. The team would then claim fourth through eighth with Julianne Kelly in fourth (19:05), Shea Hamel in fifth (19:16), Tealei Chandonnet in sixth (19:25), Brooke Soucy in seventh (19:28) and Samantha Panzeri in eighth (19:32). Brynne LeCours also grabbed a spot in the top 10 with a 10th place finish with a time of 19:46.
For the second place Bears, Naomi Cass cemented her name in the MASCAC history books, winning her third straight MASCAC Runner of the Year honors with a first place finish in a time of 17:59, which was 34 seconds faster than the next competitor. Rhiannon Vos joined her as a top 10 honoree with a ninth place finish in 19:43. Olivia Pendleton was named MASCAC Rookie of the Year after coming in 11th with a time of 20:05 as the top first time performer in the women's field.
Finishing out the top 10 honorees is Skye Goba of Fitchburg State. She came across the line in a time of 18:56 for third place.
After leading the Owls to their sixth straight team honors, Marlee Berg of Westfield State was voted BSN Sports Coach of the Year by her fellow coaches.
The women's squads get a week off before returning to competition on November 15 in the NCAA Regionals.
